Water fall closeup view

This waterfall is among the newest tourist attractions in Bali but is increasingly gaining popularity. The falls is located in the center of a high cliff with very clear water, which makes it a perfect photogenic scene. Though the waterfall is quite hard to locate, but once you spot it, you will be mesmerized by the sight. The cliffs around the falls are circular in structure, which gives off the feeling of being inside a cave while the sun rays reflected on water from above offers quite an enchanting view. The rainbow projected by sunlight on the water is something like you have never seen before.

Unlike all other waterfalls in Bali, this waterfall doesn’t fall into a river or any stream. The water simply flows down the cliff adding to the uniqueness of the spot. The waterfall only comes into view once you have climbed down a few sets of stairs and into the cliff. The Tukad Cepung Waterfall falls lies on the left side of the stream down the steps. But you can also explore the right side of the stream if you want. There you will find many small waterfalls and lush green vegetation.
On your way to the falls, you will also spot a big round rock. You can climb to its top and take some great shots and there is also a temple to the right of the rock. Passing by this rock, you will finally reach the Tukad Cepung Waterfall.

Forest view

Tukad Cepung can be accessed from any part of Bali. Enjoy your ride while on your way to the waterfall, the road to the waterfall is almost as beautiful as the destination itself. However, if you are visiting the waterfall from Ubud region, you can reach Tukad Cepung Waterfall from Ubud easily. If you drive by a motorbike or a car you should reach the place in about 50 minutes. You can also reach Tukad Cepung Waterfall from Kuta, Legian and Seminyak area in south Bali.

It takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to drive up to the place. You can either rent a motorcycle or a car to drive up to the location as there is no public transportation available to reach the waterfall. From there it is about a 30 to 40 minutes hike to the waterfall, but then again you have to climb down a few stairs to actually see the waterfall.

You would need to pay an entrance fee to enter the waterfall region. The entrance fees is approximately 15,000 IDR for both local tourists and foreigners alike. The area is very neatly maintained by the local villagers, so it would be really kind if you leave a tip, so that they can continue maintaining the spot.

Best Time To Visit Tukad Cepung Waterfall

During the rainy season, water gets clogged within the cliffs and its gets really deep. So it is recommended that, you avoid visiting this place during the monsoon season. But during any other season, you can easily visit the place. The temperature of the place surrounding the waterfall is comparatively cooler and offers a great sense of peace. In the drier months, you can clearly observe the neat water flowing through the waterfall.

The best time in Tukad Cepung waterfall is in the afternoon. During this time, the sun is directly above the cliffs and you might just be able to see the rainbow created by the sun rays, reflecting with the water. The best thing would be to leave early morning from your location so that you can reach the place by noon, which is definitely the best time to watch the beautiful scenery in all its glory.

Beautiful waterfall

The Tukad Cepung waterfall it’s one of its kind. The unique view the sunlight creates on the water below is not something to be missed. The sun rays illuminate the water in the most beautiful ways. You can have a good time at the waterfall below, splashing about water and simply the peace and quiet. The area is very hygienic as it is well maintained all throughout the year. The waterfall is gradually becoming a tourist hotspot and it is already a very popular Instagram location. A perfect place to capture some stills for your Instagram. On a sunny day, if you are lucky enough, you will be in for a treat.
The warm rays of the sun shine through the top of the cliffs and reflect on the water to create natural beams of rainbows across the canyon like rocks. You can also swim around in the glistening water. On your way down to the falls, you will spot a little warung selling vegetable noodles so that you can grab a bite on your way.

Important things to carry

We know how much you love to travel. So here we have collected a few tips for you on your Tukad Cepung Waterfall tour.

  • The Tukad Cepung Waterfall entry fees are 15,000 IDR per adult. The entry to children is free of cost.
  • Tukad Cepung Waterfall is a very beautiful location so you must take a picture there. The terrain is seemingly stable near the waterfall, so you can set up your camera easily at a good angle, so that you can obtain some beautiful and dramatic images of the location.
  • We recommend you to carry a hat and bring a change of clothes when you are visiting Tukad Cepung waterfall. Though it is unlikely to get rainy out of season, but you might be exposed to drops of water percolating from the cliffs or the sprays from the waterfall. So having a change of clothes in your arsenal can be of good use.
  • It is also recommended that you choose sandals or a shoe with a good grip and avoid any fancy footwear. The rocks there, are pretty slick so wearing a comfortable pair of shoes can protect you from slipping or falling.

Tukad Cepung is a very beautiful location to visit. Visit the awe worthy waterfall and enjoy the moment by relaxing near the water or swimming in it. Listen to the sound of the flowing water and gaze at the lovely rainbow created by sun rays and unwind in the lap of nature at Tukad Cepung waterfall.
